Ignite - Hemel Hempstead - 4th October 2008

Ignite Night Club, Jarmans Park, Hemel Hempstead saw another night of national and international action promoted by Alex Parish and sanctioned by WKMA.
Peter Muffett (Brighton Kicks) was up against Jason Poland from Puma Gym over 3 x 2 Minute Rounds. In the first round after what was looking to be a promising fight, Muffett was disqualified and as a result Poland pronouned the winner.
Sarwar Hamid coming off a full contact win at Burgess Hill, and a semi contact win last week was on fighting form. He was up against the tough Italian Brienza Alessandro in a 3 x 2 Minute Leg Kick Fight.
The first round started quite cautiously with both fighters sounding each other out. The second round saw lots of action with Sarwar showing his usual display of superb kicks, and the Italian showing his potential punching power.
The third round started well and Hamid was again dominating the round when he got caught with a right which gave him an 8 count. He then got caught with a second count, and though he was up and ready to continue, the bell rang, with the Italian declared the winner.

FIGHT NIGHT - BURGESS HILL - 21st SEPTEMBER 2008

Kicks Fighters Sarwar Hamid, Paul Kadan and Steve Robinson were in action at Fight Night at The Triangle, Burgess Hill, Sunday 21st September sanctioned by WKMA.

Sarwar Hamid fought Peter Mallon (Southcoast Kickboxing) over 3 x 2 minute rounds. Hamid used his excellent timing  and ringcraft to his advantage against his taller opponent. He delighted the crowd with his array and arsenal of kicks, catching Mallon in the second with both spinning round and hook kicks.
Mallon was there to fight however, and the third round saw them both standing their ground and trading combination of punches and kicks.  Hamid was a clear winner over points, and this exciting bout received the Fight of The Night.

Paul Kadan was originally matched against Amir Ullah(Lincoln Kickboxing) at 66kgs. His opponent had to pull out, and he took on a heavier opponent from Gatwick Kickboxing. In the first round Kadan was caught flush on; and the fight was stopped with a first round stoppage by the Gatwick fighter.

Steve Robinson fought Will Wright (Lincoln Kickboxing) over 5 x 2 Minute Rounds for the BIKMA English Title Matched at 80kgs.
This fight was non stop toe to toe action, with both fighters aggressive and forward fighting in their gameplan. Everyone commenting on the durability of the Lincoln fighter who weathered some incredibly heavy shots from Robinson which clearly made their mark, but didn't deter him from continuing to trade and hold his ground. Robinson continued to keep up a high work rate which paid off in the fifth, when his heavy shots finally took their toll, and resulted in a stoppage and Robinson the well deserved Winner of the BIKMA English Title.

21 ST CENTURY PROMOTIONS

HOVE TOWN HALL

12 TH APRIL 2008

Kicks Instructor and Fighter Tiffany Williams took on Whitney Huish from the Black Dragon Gym in Galway over 7 x 2 Minute Rounds for the Golden Belt Professional European Flyweight Title.

Towards the end of the first round Huish took a count from a left hook, but came out in the second aggressively and remained a strong and dangerous opponent throughout the fight. Trainer Pete Foley who has seen Williams fight on numerous occasions had obviously worked with Huish on specifically countering Williams tactics, and Huish was constantly looking to land her strong driving right and her quick lead leg round kick to the head.

Williams worked her stiff lefts and strong body kicks on Huish, but both fighters found their work frustrated inside. Williams caught Huish with a side kick to the face in the middle rounds which caused her nose to bleed, and then used straight kicks to the face to keep her game opponent at range. The seventh and final round ended with Williams having her nose gashed by a close range accidental knee. Williams claimed a unanimous points win over her tough Irish Opponent to be the new Golden Belt European Flyweight Champion.

CASINO ROOMS,

ROCHESTER

KENT

11 TH MAY 2008

Brighton Kicks Fighter Sarwar Harwid took on Jake Richards from USKA and trained by Neil Kelly over 3 x 2 Minute Rounds. Deemed by many as the most technical bout of the night both fighters gave it their all and were very evenly matched.

In the first round Hamid dominated with good combinations and finishing with strong head kicks. In the second round Richards came back strongly, taking the centre of the ring and pushing Hamid back. Richard was working hands to the body and driving in his strong back leg round kick. Hamid though being pushed back still showed off his superior kicking ability, coming back at Richards with a lovely spinning hook kick, and a jumping spinning side kick which caught Richards flush to the body. Both corners knew all depended on the third round, and in this instant Richards took it as he pushed forward and took the centre of the ring, whilst Sarwar continue to accurately counter and pick his opponent off. A loss to Hamid but definitely a rematch for the future.

30 TH MARCH 2008

CAGE BRAWL

BRACKNELL LEISURE CENTRE

Sarwar Hamid, 17,(Kicks Brighton) had another successful night at Bracknell Leisure Centre in his rematch with Warren Betts from Ireland . Hamid fought Betts in the early part of 2007 in Telford and had beaten his opponent over a split decision, with Betts coming on strong in the latter part of this original fight. Hamid showed his growing skills in this three round leg kick fight. He kept his opponent at a distance with strong side kicks to the body and kept his hand techniques crisp and strong. When Betts tried to work in close Hamid twisted and turned Betts and repetitively cracked his kicks in to the legs, body and head. Betts, maybe as a result of their first encounter seemed to be focusing on his hands and looking for the big shot, but Hamid was too fluid to get caught in a war, and used the large 21 foot cage area to his advantage, working his combinations, and then changing his angle of attack. Another win for Hamid.
